Upcycle
Globally, a significant amount of solid waste is generated each year, with waste glass accounting for 130 million tons, of which only 21% is recycled. In India alone, 11.5 million metric tonnes of glass are dumped into landfills annually. The production and disposal of glass products contribute to high energy consumption, increased CO2 emissions, and depletion of raw materials.
The production, disposal, transportation and recycling of glass products contribute to high energy consumption which leads to increasing carbon footprint and the depletion of raw materials. Hence, Upcycling could be an alternate option to Recycling.
